Gordon Comfort – Executive Leader, COO, CEO
Gordon Comfort is an operating executive who has served as both Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer across education, nonprofit, and enterprise organizations. Over the course of his career, Gordon Comfort has built a reputation for leading complex organizations through growth, transformation, and operational alignment.
With more than two decades of leadership experience, Gordon Comfort has worked across multiple sectors including education, human services, retail, technology, and nonprofit organizations. His work has consistently focused on building high-performing teams, implementing scalable systems, and ensuring that strategy and execution remain tightly aligned.
Most recently, Gordon Comfort served as Chief Operating Officer of the American Kennel Club (AKC), where he led enterprise operations across technology, customer experience, marketing, and national program delivery. In this role, Gordon Comfort supported an $80M+ organization and worked across departments to improve operational performance, modernize systems, and strengthen alignment across the enterprise.
Prior to his role at the American Kennel Club, Gordon Comfort served as Chief Operating Officer of ACCEL, a multi-state and multi-national organization providing education and clinical services to children and families. At ACCEL, Gordon Comfort oversaw operations across multiple regions, leading a large workforce while supporting continued growth and program expansion.
Earlier in his career, Gordon Comfort served in public education as a teacher, assistant principal, and high school principal, and also served as an elected school board member. These experiences provided a strong foundation in leadership, accountability, and community engagement that continue to inform his work as an executive.
